Are you interested in enhancing your licensing potential at the Master's level? IPS offers an MS-Plus Practicum which may enable graduates of this program to potentially become eligible for independent practice as a licensed professional counselor (LPC).
Students who have satisfactorily completed the curriculum in the Master's Degree of Clinical Psychology Program will now be able to choose four electives while completing an externship thereby increasing their eligibility for licensure.
In addition to the current MS-Plus Integrative Case Consultation Course, which aids students in diagnosing and treating cases from an integrative perspective, students will be able to enroll in Vocational and Career Assessment, Substance Abuse, Group Psychotherapy, and Developmental Psychology.
“The beauty of the program is that it may significantly expedite the ability to practice independently. This practicum should appeal to those students who wish to take an alternate route from the traditional doctoral degree,” according to Dr. Stephen Hamel, director of the Master of Clinical Psychology Program at IPS.
The newly-enhanced practicum is a key step in aiding IPS students to take the knowledge and skills they have acquired about integrating psychology with the Catholic view of the person to the level of independent professional practice with a Master's degree. Licensure requirements, however, vary from state to state, so interested students should first inquire about the specific requirements of selected individual states.
