Doctoral Students Accepted to APA and APPIC Internships

The Institute for the Psychological Sciences (IPS) is pleased to announce that internships have been granted to Doctoral students Amy Meredith and Margaret Laracy.  Both students competed against a large pool of qualified applicants from around the country for these highly-coveted positions at accredited sites.

Laracy received her first choice, the Outreach Community Counseling Center, an APA-accredited site that is part of the Chicago Area Christian Training Consortium.  She is presently an extern for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, NJ, and will relocate this summer to Illinois to begin work there.

Meredith was awarded an APPIC-member internship as a campus counselor at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. Currently she is completing an externship at Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute at INOVA in Fairfax, VA.

Successful internship placement is strong validation of IPS’ rigorous and comprehensive curriculum. To date, every doctoral student at the Institute has been accepted into an accredited American Psychological Association (APA) or Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) member-internship site.  Furthermore, IPS externs and interns consistently receive the very highest ratings from their respective training directors and supervisors.
